Eric has returned home, over forty years after he left, and it’s time for a fresh start. But old flame Christine has other ideas. Transported back to a time of chippy teas and Northern Soul, there’s unfinished business for these old lovers. Watching teenage love stumble as hapless Lee make a pass at the beautiful Jasmine, is it all just history repeating? Focusing on love at different ages and celebrating the nation’s favourite food, Chip Shop Chips is an immersive love story set in a chippy performing in unusual spaces. So put on your dancing shoes, tuck into a fish supper and brace yourself for a unique theatrical experience. This is theatre, but not as you know it: dinner, dance and a show all rolled into one! Food: Audience members eat fish and chips during performance. We will broker relationships with local chip shops/pubs/caterers to supply fish and chips for the performance. Box of Tricks was formed by theatre directors Adam Quayle and Hannah Tyrrell-Pinder in London in 2006. After six years producing new plays in London, the company relocated to Manchester in 2012 and has gone from strength to strength, producing three acclaimed tours in 2013: My Arms by James Leach (“An excellent play” – What’s on Stage), cross-regional short play initiative Word:Play/NWxSW (“A stylish cohesive production” – What’s On Stage) and the national tour of In Doggerland by Tom Morton-Smith (“Tyrrell-Pinder's impressively spare production for Box of Tricks” – The Guardian).
